Engaging Students in Listening and Reading Comprehension
Listening and Reading Comprehension classes.
Listening class.
Today’s class was packed with engaging activities that made learning fun. We kicked things off with Herrera's group, which focused on teaching us new vocabulary and prepositions of place, like in, on, under, and across from. They explained their usage through examples and made the lesson interactive by having us place objects based on the prepositions used in a story. This practical exercise clarified how prepositions work in everyday situations and made it easier to describe locations and positions.
Next, we played Two Truths and One Lie, led by Mirella. Students figured out which statement was false, and their thoughtful explanations got everyone engaged.
Alejandra then guided a discussion where students described their teacher and shared their favorite subjects. This naturally flowed into a vocabulary session where she introduced key words like assignment and whiteboard, perfect prep for the reading activity.
Marvin took over next, guiding the students through a short passage and comprehension questions. There was lots of lively discussion as classmates compared answers, and we reviewed everything together to ensure everyone was on the same page.
After that, I led the What’s in My Backpack activity, where students drew and described items from their bags using the new vocabulary. It was great to see their creativity and confidence.
Finally, Daniela wrapped things up with a reflection, asking the class to share what stood out to them. Overall, it was a lively and productive session filled with collaboration and learning!

Thank you very much! :D
